BODY OF WORK ELIGIBILITY FOR THE 14TH ANNUAL COUNTRY MUSIC ALBERTA AWARDS (to be held in 2025)

ALL MEMBERS ARE BOUND BY THE COUNTRY MUSIC ALBERTA AWARDS TERMS & CONDITIONS
*NOTE* The Award application process is a Thirteen (13) Month Window, however, a body of work may only be submitted for consideration once and may not be used to apply in subsequent years if unsuccessful.
*NOTE* The first available date that the body of work is available to the public is considered the release date. So if your song is released on Apple Music before it is released to Radio, the Apple Music Date will be considered the release date of the song.

Horizon Female Artist of the Year
This award is presented to an individual female artist in the Alberta country music industry displaying the greatest achievements within the current eligibility period. Voters should give consideration to all aspects, including but not limited to success at radio, streaming numbers, sales of pre-recorded music, live concert shows and vocal performances.
Eligibility
ALL ACTS MUST APPLY AND PROVIDE SCREENSHOT EVIDENCE FOR THIS CATEGORY
The eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The female artist must be a resident of Alberta
All contenders are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
Artist MUST have a single released in the current eligibility period
AND the Artist's music catalogue MUST have obtained a minimum of 10,000 streams on a SINGLE premium streaming platform (Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube)
AND the Artist must have performed live at least five (5) times during the eligibility period
Selection Process
The Horizon Female Artist of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE – The contenders for the Horizon Female Artist of the Year Award will be determined by the following formula:
Current Release: The Act must have released a new song to the public within the Eligibility Period.
Streaming Numbers: The Artists catalogue of music MUST meet a minimum threshold of 10,000 streams across a SINGLE premium streaming services (Apple, Amazon, Spotify, YouTube) screenshots of your artist page will be required for proof, and you or your team MUST apply for this method
Performance: The Act MUST have performed live a minimum of Five (5) times within the current fiscal year
The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Second Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) nominees will appear on the Second Ballot
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The five (5) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than five (5) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot;
STEP THREE (Third Ballot) – From the list of five (5) nominees provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced as the winner during the Country Music Alberta Award Show. In the case of a tie, more than one (1) winner will be announced.
Country Music Alberta Award™
The Horizon Female Artist of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Show during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend.
One (1) award is presented to the winning artist, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Horizon Male Artist of the Year

Country Music Alberta Award™

One (1) award is presented to the winning artist, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Horizon Group or Duo of the Year
This award is presented to a group/duo (defined as an act comprised of two (2) or more people, all of whom perform together as a collective group) in the Alberta country music industry, displaying the greatest achievements within the current eligibility period. The act may include an individual who has, or currently does, perform as a solo artist under a name different than that of the group/duo. This award is based on the performance of the group/duo as a unit, either on record or in person. Voters should give consideration to all aspects, including but not limited to success at radio, streaming numbers, sales of pre-recorded music, live concert shows and vocal performances.
Eligibility
ALL ACTS MUST APPLY AND PROVIDE SCREENSHOT EVIDENCE FOR THIS CATEGORY
The eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
At least 50% of the group/duo must be residents of Alberta
At least 50% of the contributing members must be members of Country Music Alberta in good standing prior to November 1, of the upcoming Fiscal Year;
Any group/duo that capitalizes in whole, or in part, by incorporating the name of a solo artist in the name of the group/duo is not permitted to stand for nomination in this category; Special collaborations between two solo artists/acts do not qualify.
Act MUST have a single released in the current eligibility period
AND the Act's music catalogue MUST have obtained a minimum of 10,000 streams on a SINGLE premium streaming platform (Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube)
AND the Artist must have performed live at least five (5) times during the eligibility period

Country Music Alberta Award™
The Horizon Group or Duo Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Show during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend
One (1) award is presented to the winning act, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Fans' Choice
This award is for any Roots artist/Horizon Male /Horizon Female / Horizon Group/Duo / Horizon Youth acts that meet a streaming requirement proving their music is being consumed by the Fans and Public. The Public and Fans will have the opportunity to cast their vote for their favourite nominee via an online ballot to determine the winner.
Eligibility
The Solo artists or at least 50% of the Group/Duo must be a resident(s) of Alberta
All contenders are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
Eligible acts must have 25,000 CATALOGUE streams within the eligibility period (September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year) from a SINGLE Premium Streaming Platform
NOTE The act does NOT have to release new music within the Eligibility period, However, Acts MUST provide proof of streams
NOTE The final round is a public voting category.
Selection Process
The Fan's Choice Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE – The contenders for the Fans Choice Award will be determined by the following formula:
A catalogue streaming threshold of 25,000 streams from One (1) premium streaming service (Apple, Amazon, Spotify, YouTube) within eligibility period. Screenshots of your artist page will be required for proof, and you or your team MUST apply for this method
The Ten (10) contenders receiving the most industry votes will appear on the Final Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) nominees will appear on the 2nd Ballot;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – In case there are more than Ten (10) contenders provided from the Contenders round, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot.
STEP THREE (Final Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) nominees provided, anyone that has the voting link (with one vote per IP address) may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced as the winner during Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend. In the case of a tie, more than one (1) winner will be announced.
Country Music Alberta Award™
The Fan's Choice Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Show during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend
One (1) award is presented to the winning act, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Talent Buyer of the Year
This award is presented to one (1) individual talent buyer or promoter, who presents and promotes Alberta country acts within the current eligibility period.
Eligibility
The current eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The talent buyer or promoter must be a resident of Alberta;
All contenders are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
This award is presented to one (1) individual. Any votes containing more than one (1) name on the First Ballot will be considered INVALID;
The talent buyer or promoter must have bought or promoted at least ten (10) unique country acts, with Albertan content, within the eligibility period;
The individual must have been employed, and/or in the applicable position within the corresponding company for a minimum of 50% of the current eligibility period.
Selection Process
The Talent Buyer or Promoter of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (First Ballot) – Each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may submit one (1) contender. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Second Ballot, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards Verification Committee. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) contenders will appear on the Second Ballot;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The five (5) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than five (5) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot.
STEP THREE (Third Ballot) – From the list of five (5) nominees provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced as the winner during the annual Country Music Alberta Kick Off Party. In the case of a tie, more than one (1) winner will be announced.
Country Music Alberta Award™
The Talent Buyer or Promoter of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Kick Off Party during the Country Music Alberta Award Weekend;
One (1) award is presented to the winner, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Industry Person of the Year
This award is presented to one individual displaying excellence in supporting, expanding and building the Alberta country music industry and genre during the current eligibility period. Potential contenders can work in the following categories (including but not limited to): artists and repertoire (A&R), artist management, marketing, media (radio, television, streaming), promoter, public relations, publishing, studios, touring, technicians (Audio & Lighting) and venues.
Eligibility
The current eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The recipient must be a resident of Alberta;
All contenders are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
This award is presented to one (1) individual.
The individual must have been employed, and in the applicable position within the corresponding company for a minimum of 50% of the current eligibility period.
Any regular paid or contracted positions of Country Music Alberta are NOT eligible for this award
Selection Process
The Industry Person of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (Contender) – Each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may submit one (1) contender. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Second Ballot, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards Verification Committee. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) contenders will appear on the Second Ballot;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The five (5) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than five (5) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot.
STEP THREE (Third Ballot) – From the list of five (5) nominees provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. Country Music Alberta Award™
The Industry Person of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Kick Off Party;
One (1) award is presented to the winner, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Songwriter(s) of the Year
This award is presented to the songwriter(s) of an individual country music song released to radio or available for purchase within the current eligibility period. This award is based on an individual song and not on the songwriter(s)’ body of work. Voters should give consideration to all aspects of the given song, if applicable, including but not limited to lyrics, music, success at radio, record sales, success in digital media and impact of the song on consumers and the Alberta country music industry, with emphasis on the creative integrity of the song.
Eligibility
The current eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The songwriter(s) must be a resident of Alberta. On collaborations, at least 50% of the songwriters must be residents of Alberta
All solo contenders and 50% of collaborations are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
A single is considered released on the day the track is made available to the public
In the case the single is included on an album, the release date will be considered the day the single was released to Canadian Country Radio. Proof of DMDS or PlayMPE availability date within 1.5 Years of Albums release date will be required.
A song that is re-released is not eligible for this category (Example: a new feature artist collaboration, Greatest Hits, etc....)
Final nominees from the previous year are not eligible in the current year for the same product.
Selection Process
The Songwriter(s) of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (Contender) – Each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may submit one (1) contender. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Second Ballot, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards Verification Committee. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) contenders will appear on the Second Ballot;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The five (5) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than five (5) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot;
STEP THREE (Third Ballot) – From the list of five (5) nominees provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced as the winner during the Country Music Alberta Award Weekend. In the case of a tie, more than one (1) winner will be announced.
Country Music Alberta Award™
The Songwriter(s) of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend
One (1) award is presented to the winning writer(s), courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Album of the Year
This award is presented to the act (solo, duo or group) for an Alberta country album, which was released for mass public consumption in its entirety, within the current eligibility period. An album (Physical or Digital) is defined as made up of at least six tracks or 20 minutes of music, either packaged as one album, or as a track equivalent album (a series of singles or EPs that will be released within a 18-month period of each other). The album can be a special project or commemorative package. Voters and jury members should give consideration to all aspects, including but not limited to, market impact (e.g., sales, spins, YouTube views), artistic performance, production, design, art layout and liner notes. This award is for an album as a whole unit.
Eligibility
The current eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
An album is considered released on the first available date that the material can be possessed, by mass consumers, via a purchase in its entirety and/or streamed legally in its entirety by a royalty-generating service.
The act must be a resident of Alberta. Within a group/duo, at least 50% of the members must be residents of Alberta
All solo contenders and 50% of Groups/Duos are required to be members in good standing of the Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
The album is made up of at least six tracks or 20 minutes of music, either packaged as one album, or as a track equivalent album (a series of singles or EPs that will be released within a 12-month period of each other)
Final nominees from the previous year are not eligible in the current year for the same product.
Selection Process
The Album of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (First Ballot) – Each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may submit one (1) contender. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will proceed to STEP TWO, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards™ Committee. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) contenders will proceed to STEP TWO;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The five (5) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than five (5) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot;
STEP THREE (Third Ballot) – From the list of five (5) nominees provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced as the winner during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend. In the case of a tie, more than one (1) winner will be announced.
Country Music Alberta Award™
The Album of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Show during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend;
One (1) award is presented to the winning act, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Video of the Year
This award is presented to the act (solo, duo or group) for an Alberta country music video, released for consumption within the current eligibility period. This award is for an original music video. Voters should give consideration to all aspects of the given video, including but not limited to creativity, production, visual appeal and impact on consumers and the Alberta country music industry.
Eligibility
All solo contenders and 50% of Groups/Duos are required to be residents of Alberta
All solo contenders and 50% of Groups/Duos are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
Has released a music video during the period of September 1 to October 31 of the current fiscal year
Lyric Videos do NOT qualify for this award
Selection Process

The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will proceed to STEP TWO, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards™ Committee. Country Music Alberta Award™
The Video of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Show during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend
One (1) award is presented to the winning act, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Country Venue or Concert Series of the Year
This award is presented an Alberta music venue or concert series that;
a) Provides and opportunity for the live public performance of Country Music by Alberta Country Music artists, and
b) Regulary features performances by Alberta Country Music Artists withing the eligibility period
Eligibility
The current eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The venue must be located in Alberta;
A minimum of one (1) person from the Country Venue or Presenting Series is required to be a member of Country Music Alberta in good standing prior to November 1, of the current Fiscal Year;
The Venue must have bought or promoted at least four (4) Alberta Country events to the public-at-large within the eligibility period.
The Concert Series must have presented at least four (4) Alberta Country music concerts in the Province of Alberta within the eligibility period
*NOTE* No Company, entity, or derivative thereof may be nominated for BOTH the "Live Event of the Year" and " Country Venue or Concert Series of the Year"
Selection Process
The Live Country Venue or Presenting Series of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (First Ballot) – Each eligible CMAB Member may submit one (1) contender. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Second Ballot, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the CMAB™ Awards Committee. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) contenders will appear on the Second Ballot;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible CMAB™ Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. The five (5) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot as nominees. In the case of a tie, more than five (5) nominees will appear on the Third Ballot.
STEP THREE (Third Ballot) – From the list of five (5) nominees provided, each eligible CMAB™ member may vote for the one (1) nominee they deem most deserving. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced at the annual Country Music Alberta Award Show™ In the case of a tie, more than one (1) winner will be announced.
Country Music Alberta Award™
The Live Country Venue or Series Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Award Show™
One (1) award is presented to the winning venue or series, courtesy of Country Music Alberta
Drummer of the Year
The Drummer of the Year Award recognizes individual instrumentalists known primarily for their performances on record or stage who has demonstrated exceptional skill and achievement in the Alberta Country Music Industry
Eligibility
The eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The musician must be a resident of Alberta
All contenders are required to be members in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
Selection Process
The Drummer of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (Contender) – Each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may submit one (1) contender. The ten (10) contenders receiving the most votes will appear on the Second Ballot, providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards Verification Committee. In the case of a tie, more than ten (10) contenders will appear on the Second Ballot;
STEP TWO (Second Ballot) – From the list of ten (10) contenders provided, each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may vote for the one (1) contender they deem most deserving. Selection Process

The Specialty Instrument Player of the Year Award recognizes individual instrumentalists known primarily for their performances on record or stage who has demonstrated exceptional skill and achievement in the Alberta Country Music Industry. (These may be but not limited to: Banjo, Dobro, Mandolin, Steel Guitar, Violin, KeyBoard/Piano, etc... or any other instrument that does not fall into the other Musician of the Year categories)

The musician must be a resident of Alberta

Horizon Youth Award
This award is presented to an individual artist or Group/Duo who is 18 less a day as of November 1, of the Upcoming Fiscal Year and active in the Alberta country music industry, displaying the greatest achievements within the current eligibility period. Voters should give consideration to all aspects, including but not limited to video presentation, live shows, social media presence and vocal performances.
Eligibility
The current eligibility period is September 1, through to October 31 of the current Fiscal Year
The Artist or 50% of the Group/ Duo must be a resident of Alberta
All solo acts and 50% of the Group/Duo are required to be members of the Country Music Alberta, in good standing, by November 1, of the upcoming Fiscal Year
The artist or Group / Duo must be 18 years of age less a day as of November 1, of the Upcoming Fiscal Year.
The act must have either: a fully functional website OR a fully completed Country Music Alberta profile as of October 31, of the current Fiscal Year.
IF your website does NOT include: One (1) Performance Video, 1 (1) High Quality photo, and links or a calendar for a Minimum of three (3) live, live-streamed or combination thereof performance shows within the eligibility period, additional information may be required.
Selection Process
The Horizon Youth of the Year Award follows a three (3) step selection process:
STEP ONE (Contenders Round)– Each eligible Country Music Alberta Member may submit one (1) contender. Providing they meet the eligibility requirements, as determined by the Country Music Alberta Awards™ Committee.

The Horizon Youth of the Year Award is presented at the annual Country Music Alberta Awards Show during the Country Music Alberta Awards Weekend;

Radio Station of the Year (Large Market)
This award is presented to Alberta country music radio stations, who contribute to the development of Alberta country talent, within the current eligibility period. Eligible terrestrial country radio stations must be licensed by the CRTC. Voters should give consideration to all aspects of the radio station, including but not limited to community involvement, promotions, leadership, and recognition
Eligibility
The current period for the Radio Station of the Year (Large Market) Award is September 1, through to October 31 of the current fiscal year
Any Alberta terrestrial country radio station (as defined by the CRTC) is entitled to submit for consideration;
A minimum of one (1) person from the submitted radio station must be a member of the Country Music Alberta in good standing of Country Music Alberta, for the upcoming fiscal year before November 1
A Large Market station is defined by a City/Town population of 50,000 or more as of October 31 of the current Fiscal year
